Travel to Botswana
Botswana is a landlocked country, so it is only possible to travel here by land, river, or air. Tourists who wish to fly to Botswana from Europe, North America, or Australia will need to fly to another country first of all - usually South Africa. Botswana shares a border with South Africa, Namibia, Zimbabwe, and Zambia, and it is possible to cross into the country using any of these borders. It is only possible to travel from Zambia to Botswana by river.
Travel around Botswana
Getting around Botswana is fairly straightforward, and the road infrastructure is relatively good. There is a bus service that connects all the main towns and tourist attractions. One of the easiest ways to get around is by car, but it is important that tourists drive defensively because it is a common occurrence for large animals to wander into the road. Hitching is possible in Botswana, and there will usually be somebody willing to offer a lift.
