North Wales plays host to a range of activities and events for all the family this Christmas, so here is a list of a couple of events to watch out for!
Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railway: Santa Train
If you want to experience quality time with your family in a timeless way, then the Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railway is the perfect place to do so. Situated in Porthmadog, December also brings the annual visit of Santa and his elves, who pass through the train giving out presents, with plenty of laughter and jokes along the way.
Once you reach the village of Beddgelert, you can stretch your legs, enjoy the stunning views and take a couple of photographs with Santa and his little helpers.
There are also plenty of fabulous options for accommodation in Porthmadog.
Llandudno Boxing Day Sea Dip
Whether you are brave enough to take a dip yourself, or just curious to watch others throw themselves into the freezing sea – this is a great day out for all the family.
The Llandudno Lions Club Annual Boxing Day Sea Dip allows thrill seekers to shake off the festive season’s indulgences with an unseasoned dip. The annual tradition sees brave souls dress up in fancy-dress, all in the pursuit of raising money for charity – it is free to enter, and there are even prizes for the best costumes!
Welsh Grand National
Throughout the day there will be a wealth of entertainment accompanying the horse racing, including a male voice choir from Monmouthshire and Welsh opera singers Shan Cothi & Rebecca Evans singing the national anthem as the runner’s circle for the big race.
Surf Snowdonia Christmas Market
Possibly the coolest Christmas market this side of Lapland, the Surf Snowdonia Market will play host to a range of high-quality stalls, real ale tent, acoustic music, DJ, festive foods, fair rides, carousel and much much more!
Located in Surf Snowdonia Adventure Park, near Conway, the Christmas Markets will be on the 10th and 11th of December – Father Christmas will also be in attendance, so make sure your children are on the nice list and head on down to his grotto!
